【国際センター】留学生が松永カープジェーで活躍！
3月10日（日）松永西部市民センターで国際色豊かなステージ、体験コーナー、屋台が催される多文化祭り「フレンドリピックカープジェー」が開かれました。「カープヂェー(CarpeDiem)」とはラテン語で「今日一日を有意義に使いましょう。楽しみましょう」という意味です。コロナを経て4年ぶりに復活した当イベントに本学の留学生がブルガリア体験コーナーを設けたりして彩りを添えました。当日の様子について学長室ブログ担当の趙がお伝えします（英文訳はページ下部にあります）。
ブルガリアのソフィア大学、ヴェリコタルノヴォ大学からの交換留学生として福大で学んでいる次の3名は、体験コーナーとしてブルガリアの伝統的な飾り物「マルテニツァ」のワークショップ、手作りの編み物の販売とライスデザートの試食を提供しました。

マルテニツァーはミサンガのような飾り物です。ブルガリアでは春を祝う祝日である３月１日に家族、友人、恋人同士の間でお互いに交換し、相手の健康と幸福を願うそうです。
これらの編み物は全部エリさんが自らデザインし、手作りした一点物です。
「ムリャコ・ス・オリズ」（Mlyakooriz）は直訳すると「お米とミルク」というスイーツです。日本と同様にブルガリアでもお米を食べる習がありますが、ただ主食としてではなく、お米とお肉を焼く料理などおかずとして認識されています。またこのようにお米と牛乳と砂糖で作られるスイーツというイメージです。コニさんはこのライススイーツを日本の皆さんに味わってもらうために、朝6時から頑張って作っていました。想像しにくいと思いますが、実際食べてみると、ほんのり甘く優しい味わいで本当に食べやすく美味しかったです。
また「外国人市民のための交流ひろばとなんでも相談」コーナーに陳 思琦さん（国際経済学科2年）と苑 博文さん（税務会計学科3年生）がスタッフとして中国の折り紙の工作を家族連れに教え、一緒に楽しみました。アフリカのコーヒーコーナーはタプくん（国際経済学科2年生）が手伝いました。
他には福山大学のプロジェクトM企画の射的コーナー、下駄タワーゲームと大道芸サークルミルクハットなどのステージ出演もありました。
松永には、南米出身者やベトナム人など、外国をルーツとする人々が多く住んでいます。本学の留学生もこのイベントをきっかけとして、市民と交流をし、多文化共生への理解を深めていけたらと思います。
学長から一言：地元の松永で催された国際色豊かな「多文化祭り」では、本学で学ぶ各国からの留学生が大活躍だったようですね。お国自慢のスイーツや飲み物や飾り物など、普段あまり目にしたり触れたりすることがない珍しい品々に、来場者はきっと大喜びだったことでしょう。他にも福大からの出し物は盛り沢山。何よりも国際的な人の交流ができたことが素晴らしい！。

Foreign Students Participate in the “Matsunaga Carpe Diem!” Event
On Sunday March 10, “Friendly Pic Carpe Diem”, a multicultural festival featuring a stage, experience corners, and food stalls with an international flavor, was held at the Matsunaga West Civic Center. “Carpe Diem” is a Latin word meaning “seize the day”, or in a slightly more friendly way, “Let’s make the most of the day, let’s have fun”. The event was revived after a four-year absence after COVID-19, and international students from Fukuyama University added color to the event by setting up a Bulgarian Experience Corner. Here is a report from Associate Professor Cho, representing the International Center on the President’s Office Blog team.
The following three exchange students from Sofia University and Veliko Tarnovo University in Bulgaria offered workshops on “martenitsa,” a traditional Bulgarian decoration, handmade knitted goods for sale, and rice dessert tasting in interactive corner.

Martenitsas are ornaments like Friendship Bracelets. In Bulgaria, they are exchanged between family members, friends, and lovers on March 1, a holiday celebrating spring, to wish the other person good health and happiness.
All of these knitted items are one-of-a-kind, designed and handmade by Elie herself.
Mlyakooriz, which translates literally as “rice and milk,” is a Bulgarian sweet. Like in Japan, Bulgarians also eat rice, but not only as a staple food, but also as a side dish, such as a dish made with rice and baked meat. Rice sweets are made with rice, milk, and sugar. Konny-san worked hard from 6:00 in the morning to make this rice sweet for the Japanese people to enjoy. It may be hard to imagine, but when I actually tried it, it was really easy to eat and delicious, with a slightly sweet and gentle taste.
In addition, Ms. Shixin Chen (2nd year, Department of International Economics) and Mr. Hirofumi Yuan (3rd year, Department of Taxation and Accounting) taught Chinese origami crafts to families as staff members at the “Exchange Plaza for Foreign Residents and Consultation on Anything” corner, and enjoyed it together. Pratap, from Nepal, (sophomore, Department of International Economics) helped at the African coffee corner.
Other stage performances included a shooting corner planned by Project M of Fukuyama University, a geta tower game, and the street performance circle Milk Hat.
Matsunaga is home to many people with foreign roots, including people from South America and Vietnam. We hope that this event will be an opportunity for our international students to interact with the citizens and deepen their understanding of multiculturalism.
A word from the President: It seems that international students from various countries studying at Fukuyama University were very active at the international “Multicultural Festival” held in our hometown, Matsunaga. I am sure that the visitors were delighted with the sweets, drinks, and decorations from our international students’ home countries, which are rare and unusual items that cannot be usually seen or touched. There were also many other items and performances from Fukuyama U. Above all, it was wonderful to see the international exchange of people!
